Carnival Activities to Continue as Planned
- The Virgin Islands Carnival Committee wishes to express their absolute disapproval of the horrible acts of violence that marred the 2013 Jouvert Tramps. The committee hopes that all participants, residents and visitors alike, would come to the realization that we are all interrelated, interconnected and mutually vulnerable. Incidents such as those that transpired on Jouvert morning not only adversely affect our festivities, but our socioeconomic framework as well.
In spite of these incidents though, our Carnival activities will continue as planned and all participants are encouraged to continue the celebrations as responsible citizens. The committee will do its part, along with Government and other private institutions, to ensure a heightened security presence at all events. As always, law-breakers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The committee would like to thank the general public for their support and participation thus far, and hopes that it continues as we strive to maintain A Tropical Scene for Carnival 2013!
